Hmm it seems 333 have signed up for men's open and 35 for women's open Sundown Marathon: 84km. Ultramarathon rather (wah so cool... 'Ultra'.).

84km: $140 - 15% = $119
42km: $60 - 15% = $51

Now there must be something wrong with the math here?? How can an 84km entry be more than 200% of a 42km entry? Sigh I guess there's economy of scales even amongst different categories in an event.

I'm sure a lot of these ultramarathoners are going to be WALKING, just like I saw last year. I do hope all those army boys who do 72km (or more) route march with FBO/SBO get a bigger medal and brighter T-shirt...

As for me I'm still undecided. Should I pay for pain again? And if so, should I take the level of pain even further? I do need a new shirt as the old one has 'expired'...

I hate holidays.

They show my lack of time management. They make me (or at least try to make me) relook at my priorities for the day and realise what is and what isn't. I spent the CNY days in dysfunction. Most of the time at home doing absolutely nothing meaningful.

I've decided to face cycling a bit more seriously. Tried a few short sprints with rolling starts. Pathetic. About 12-15 sec a sprint. Rpm from 105-123, 48-53kmh. I can only manage the 52-16 solo on the flat. I suppose that would translate to 52-15 or 52-14 at best within a draft.

Local races finish around 55-60+ kmh. 100m@60kmh=6secs, 200m=12sec, 300m=18secs.
120rpm at top speeds can be maintained for about 12 secs? Anything longer would probably see a large dip in power or speed I think. As such longer sprints would be a little slower, and at lower rpm. From the graph no matter how large a gearing, a finishing rpm of 100 rpm at minimum is needed. And given a reasonable maximum rpm of 120, at least the 13T cog must be engaged in a sprint.

So either increase explosive power as above, or work on speed endurance for solo breakaways...

Both seem very far off.
