Encounter

A friend, my lower secondary school class mate, passed away yesterday (wednesday). I don't know the full details, but he committed suicide after he was rejected by a girl. AC/RI/HC, Cornell, A* scholar. From what I remember he was a smart, athletic and cheerful guy in the past. But people change.

I'm saddened. He and his family have my condolences. But he was a fool. He made a mistake. And it's now too late.

If love can turn into spite, then it really isn't true love at all... There are always ways to prevent sadness and disappointment from overwhelming you. The world is an unfair place. It's a fact. But look around you and you'll realise that there are people facing great strife but living out their lives stronger than ever. Learn from them and give yourself a chance to find a new purpose in living.

Don't hold on to ideals that will ultimately destroy you. Learn that there is a possibility and meaning for life beyond your current set of ideals. Everyone has a purpose in life. You just need to find it, a matter of time, if you give yourself the chance.

It was not even a sacrifice for love, it was just a lousy way to escape from life. Don't lay waste the gifts that God has given you. Don't make such a mistake... and don't let those around you make such mistakes either.
