To think i have the first batch of their S3.0 wheels...

Last sunday marked the Singapore Canoe Marathon. Well, all in all things were ok I guess. The start was marred by an ineffective starting horn, but anyway I didn't even have to anaerobic capacity to follow the boats in the starting sprint. It was good that I kept out of the way of the killer backwashes though. I think on my part I should not have 'tapered' for 2 weeks from the last 26km effort, because that essentially equated to like 2 weeks of inactivity leading to the event. My cough wasn't exactly helping me either. Anyways, I put in some effort to paddle for about the first 15km, after which I was just in my own slack (but painful and crampy) zone to finish the race. Oh yah, my first 15km was done effectively paddling with Irene. I thought perhaps I would make myself moderately useful to the team by letting her ride my wash (sorry belle, hur hur), but ultimately I was too slow even for her. Ha ha. Not that her next closest competitor was even anywhere in sight...

Along the way I was passed by secondary, jc, poly school kids etc. You name it I have been passed by it. Even surf ski too. Ok, no T1 passed me lah. haha. The water conditions were good, sometimes a little choppy but manageable lah. I must thank PK for getting me the new Nelo ML though. Although sad to say I kind of wasted it. Oh well. I'm like one of those fat and slow fellas I see riding 15k bikes on the road.... HA ha ha.

Transition to portage was pretty good, and I saved a lot of time there. Only my 4th portage was a flop when I failed to jump out of the boat properly. Anyways, I was too lazy to run with the boat. Hur hur. But all in all portage was pretty fun and i actually looked forward to it each time.

Hmm,what's next? I believe it is: NUS biathlon, Singapore biathlon, MR500, then Sun down marathon? Sigh, I have no time to paddle it seems... Just like how I have no time to cycle and no time to run. (Swim? what's that?) Or is it no energy? *shrugs* Work is kind of debilitating sometimes, and by the time I get home it's about 9pm...

I am currently so unfit, that I was easily destroyed on 'homeground' today: 1 X reverse PGP + 96 route with my AHM team. I finished like nearly dead last. Ha haha.
