Today's IPPT was absolutely dismal. I ran the slowest 2.4km ever in the past 6 yrs of my life (ie slower than the 18 yr old me). I mean, this given the fact that I've supposedly taken up endurance sports, how can I be a mere shadow of former self?
It only serves as proof that my current lifestyle is unsuitable for maintaining decent fitness. I ran 9:39, pretty much at 100% effort. A far cry from the 8:51 I ran last year using the same perceived intensity. Horrible. And the other stations were no exception. Sit ups I was planning to do a quick 40, then stop, but found myself struggling once I hit something like 35, and having to put in real effort for the subsequent ones. It kind of hurt after that. Pull-ups, too, I had to use real effort to do 12. I couldn't even do them continuously! The form of the pulls ups were poor too, with visible weakness with the later pulls. Shuttle run was bizarre, showcasing my lack of psycho motor skills: a sluggish 10.2sec on the first try, and needing a 2nd try to hit 9.8sec. Somehow, there was just no power or explosiveness in my legs at all even mentally I was pushing near 100%... Last but not least is my SBJ. No power at all. First jump was a fault jump, stepping on the line, 2nd jump was totally WRONG, with my feet seemingly dragging the ground with NO height at all: 218 cm!!!!! My last chance was 239cm, short of the decent 243cm required.
Horrible. Destroyed by just doing IPPT. I suspect my fitness is at an all time low within the past 5-6 yrs.
And now time to do a canoe marathon. I guess I should call it my morning tour of the kallang basin instead.
