Last week end was the Osim Triathlon, which I did not participate in. Apparently, due to inclement weather, the event was held back and eventually cropped into a sprint event in order to make the cut-off timings set by the authorities. The Swim was cancelled, and people cycled and ran half the distance. Furthermore, the transition area had apparently turned into a mud-pit due to the downpour. Well, turns it it was more like a cyclo-cross race! I guess it's luck that i decided to give this year's event a miss and save my 80+ bucks.
Today's Thursday Rodalink West ride wasn't that great... I guess I didn't have the legs today, and the way the group rode was kinda weird. It was about 20 people big, and they went pretty fast at the start and I was dumb enough to be all the way at the back, being rubber-banned foward and backward just fighting to hold on to the wheel in front of me. I couldn't move up either as they were going at 48kmh and it was too much for me. But then on the return leg after Tuas checkpoint the speed dropped tremendously and it was like a casual ride at about 39kmh. Nobody attacked. Along the final stretch I stayed on the wheels and waited for the sprint to start. Unfortunately, I followed the wrong move and started the sprint way too early. But it felt bad anyway. Sprinting is just too weird for me.
My knees have to get stronger... They have been acting up a bit during my slow long runs such that I have to stop a little and relax to remove the tightness within the knee ligaments...
