Regular working hours becomes binding when you try to shape a training programme around it. I already deviated from the plan on day 2 of my programme, simply because I failed to keep to my 10-1030pm sleeping time.

Due to recurrent poor planning / complacency, I often times only start preparing for the next day AT my intended sleeping time. Fiddling with my out-of-position tail light and trying on numerous mounting brackets on the seatstays and the seat tube ate away at my time. Along with a few internet plus msn distractions, I was sleeping at 11:45.

By the time I woke the next day I was feeling the effects of lack of sleep, and simply did not ride so as to avoid being zombified at work. I have to admit, my bike is not a good tool to reach Tuas. It takes longer than public transport, as compared to cycling to school. If I take bus > train > company bus, I can wake at 5:40am and reach MSD at 7:20. If I cycle, I wake at 5:20, reach MSD at 7:10, but am only ready to eat breakfast / work at 7:45 due to the need to park, walk and bathe. And this assuming no crazy weather or punctures. And my parking place has aedes mosquitoes who love to feed on me as I struggle with the lock.

Yeah, not riding gives me back an hour plus of sleep a day by snoozing on the trains and buses (yes, i am selfish and don't give up my seat to those who need it more, which is pretty much everyone standing if you go by age, sex and fitness. This must mean that I go by sleepiness level...).

Ok, so my conclusion is that RUNNING, is really the most convenient and time effective form of exercise. Why? Because the marginal benefit from a 30 mins run out weighs a 30 mins bike ride like a few times, and you can concentrate more on the running itself than interacting with traffic. And did I forget the toxic fumes that those metal boxes with wheels tend to produce?

I should run more. The only thing which may be bad about running, is the impact (and the relative slow and warm conditions). Besides, AHM is coming, and it feels bad being paid to run and not even delivering the effort.

My poor bikes must have trained themselves to be excellent dust catchers by now.
