12 hours to AHM.
7.5 days to Ironman 70.3
Well, for this year's AHM I am slightly better prepared even though I went for fewer AHM trainings. Reason being that I actually did some runs on my own earlier on. But on another note, I did relatively few high intensity workouts, so it means that my speed or speed endurance maybe in question. I should have the basic stamina to complete the run, bar injuries though.
Tactics wise, this year the focus was more on discovering individual pacing and running strong at the end. Last year everyone embarked on an over ambitious plan of following fixed pacings, and I was to work as a domestique to help the team 1 people. It was terrible in the end as the race day conditions were unexpected. The first km was ridiculously fast but people were blinded by the mass rush and adrenaline, It was about 3:30 pace for me, even though I realised i was fast. Think the front guys were at 3:00. In the end majority of the team were blown to bits, myself included, as I forced myself to move at the designated pace despite the race day humid conditions. I was done in by 13km and had to fight away notions of walking for the last 8km. Pathetic. I have free play this year, and will run according to my own style. A slow to moderate first half till about 14km followed by an increase in pace all the way for the remaining 7km. Hopefully I will be able to pull some lagging team 1 guys up during this surge, but even more hopefully there won't besuch a need.
Let's see what timings I turn in, so I can anticipate the following weekends 70.3 performance.
Hope everyone completes the run safely.
