Encounter

After spending a few occasions hanging around Passione Bikes, seeing people come and go off for group rides while I go home for a short run / slack instead, I finally decided to ride.

Come to think of it, I've not ridden in a group for..... 3 weeks? Yah, ever since that day my HR paper ended I went for Rodalink West (where I was dropped).

Today I joined in the Wednesday Passione ride. Compared to last sem when I rode (twice) this ride, the route had changed somewhat, replacing the traffic ladden stroll through along clementi road with a ride through NUS and adding Pepys Road to the itinerary. South Bouna Vista Road, NUS arts slope, Pepys Road, Telok Blangah Hill, Mount Faber. What fun today! There were clearly some riders a level or 2 above, leaving me in their tracks. Particularly impressive is how they first out maintain you on the climb (while i'm drafting them), and some distance before the crest of the hill they'll open the sprint uphill when I'm like already winded, struggling just to hold my own pace.

The finishing ride back to the shop was supposed to be a sprint, but I kinda misread it and ended up launching myself like 1km too early, realising nobody was on my wheel, and just fading before the real sprint began. Oh wells. Seems like i'm really a sprint noob.

Ah, back to work again tomorrow. Zzzz....
