The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon was this morning, and it's finally over. I pretty much ran once a week for training, so am pretty lucky I survived.

There are so many fast runners out there... Well, actually it's more like I'm a slow runner. It's really like comparing non-canoeists and canoeists in terms of paddling speed. Some people are just way faster. Even gender inequalities can be overcome through training.

2 or 3 ladies literally just ran past me at some point, and I could not do anything about it. Some, I did not even see from start till race end as they were way ahead. Basically it boils down to training and passion for the sport. I guess if I ran consistently everyday for a year, I would most probably be some where nearer to the front? But this is easier said than done. If there's no passion, it'll be impossible.

Anyways, apparently 3 of my AHM teamates ran timings of like 3:01, 3:02, and 3:05. The 3:01 guy bonked at about 39-40km, and the 3:02 guy had diarrhoea and had to make a toilet stop. And they ALL lost to a Singaporean girl who I heard ran 2:56.

For me a spent about 35km virtually running with some tall lady and another tall guy, basically sort of yo-yoing around each other. Just glad to complete without cramps.

I didn't like the parts where the 42km merged with the 21 and 10 km runners. It was stressful weaving in and out of people, and I brushed a few peeps aside in my haste. Sorry, but I really don't like the idea of walking 'runners' blocking me. (Jen said I was a running snob for saying things like this) Taking water with these peeps was even more of a drag.

*yawn*

Wish everyone who ran the marathon a speedy recovery!!
