Spent the new year morning riding. The group wasn't very large but there were a few strong riders who destroyed me quickly. I already had a hint of what was to come when we were moving through old upper thomson road, when the pace was 43kmh vs the usual 39/40. In the end I was dropped on the slope just before the left turn to mandai. They were moving at 40kmh upslope and I was just pedalling at my own pace at around 36kmh. I thought I would try and catch them later but by the time the upslopes ended they were too far ahead and I had to give up in the end. My lungs and throat were already burning. 20 mins into the ride and I was dropped already. Well, I was about to resign myself to slow pedalling alone, when a group of 3 other stragglers passed me. Yeah, so in the end the 4 of us formed a pace line and started the chase. But truly speaking, it was to no avail as we could only dish out about 37-40 kmh, when the group was probably going at 40-45. But anyway we didn't stop, and somehow caught up with some remnants of the front group at lim chu kang, something must have happened that made them give up. From then on I was cooked already, so I just easy pedalled the rest of the way back when the reformed small group went on the attack -_-'' .

This morning's paddling was 22km. Hmm, the weather was good and the reservoir pretty empty. Largely uneventful. Rode some Graham and Jenny k2 wash for 1.5km. Their side wash was excellent but the stern was difficult, so i gave up. Weili slowed to paddle with me for about 10k while aaron stayed on the side wash. Well, then later Weili decided to catch up with the front group, and easily (from my angle) closed the 300m gap within 1km O_o''. It's so much easier counting rounds vs counting laps. 11 rounds only today. Ha ha.

And bill returned me my bike in the shed without the front wheel -_-''. It's still in his car.
